THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO CUSTOMIZING YOUR PLUM PAPER PLANNER

Customizable planners are the perfect blend of functionality and creativity, but getting started can be overwhelming if you don’t know what planner options will work best for you. Read the steps below to learn the best tips for customizing your Plum Paper Planner to fit your needs best.

GETTING STARTED

The first step towards creating your dream planner is to choose your planner size. We offer three sizes for our fully customized planners: A5 (5.8”x8.3”), 7”x9”, and 8.5”x11”. When selecting a planner size, consider the dimensions and what you intend to use the planner for to ensure you choose one that will work best for you.

Our A5 planner is small but mighty. This planner size is small enough to fit into your purse or bag but still has plenty of writing space for scheduling. It’s great for taking on the go for a work or school planner. The 7x9 planner is our standard and most popular size. This planner size is perfect for those who want a planner they can leave at home or keep in the office. Lastly, our 8.5x11 planner is large and in charge. This planner is a favorite among teachers, as it's the perfect desk planner. The large pages offer plenty of space for writing, stickers, and more! Please note that our student planners are not available in an 8.5’x11” size.

DESIGN YOUR COVER

Once you’ve selected your planner size, you will enter our Planner Builder, where you will follow an 8-step process to create your planner. Step 1 of the process is to design your planner cover. We offer three cover options: Synthetic, Synthetic with Clear Covers, and Hardcovers. Our hardcovers have 22 design options and are only available for our A5 and 7x9 sizes.

Our Synthetic covers are customizable and are the perfect canvas to showcase your personality and style. We offer over 200 designs to choose from, broken down into various themed categories. If you don’t know where to start with our designs, look through our ‘Favorites’ section to shop top customer picks and our latest designs.

Once you have your design, you can personalize your cover. You can add text of your choice on the center or bottom of your cover. Select your font and the textbox color and shape. For those feeling extra creative, you can even upload a photo to make your planner truly one-of-a-kind. We recommend that your photo is 300 ppi for the best print quality. Most photos from a modern mobile device will print very well. If your photo is 1MB to 2MB and is clear when taking up most of your computer monitor, it should print clearly. We also offer 22 hardcover designs to choose from.

PICK YOUR LAYOUT

The next step in the planner-building process is to choose a color scheme and a layout that best suits your needs. Choose between our Modern, Colorful, and Neutral Color Scheme options before selecting your preferred layout. We offer monthly, weekly, and daily layout options for our custom planners. Our personalized planners allow you to choose the best layout for you and how you work.

If you don’t know the differences between our layout types and which would suit you best, read our blog, Choosing the Right Planner Layout. Please note that all of our planners, regardless of layout type, come with monthly calendar views at the beginning of each month.

As you’re selecting a planner option, two toggles will allow you to turn on/off the color and line options on the Daily and Weekly Planners. Turn off the color on your layout if you’d prefer a simple black-and-white color option. Those who want to do script or like freedom with their writing and stickers can turn off lines on their layout. This flexibility ensures that your Plum Paper planner is tailored to your unique lifestyle and organizational style.

GET CUSTOMIZING

Now that your layout is selected, you can customize your planner by adding custom headers. Depending on the layout, you will have several sections on your planner where you can choose one of our header suggestions or write in your own. If you have an ever-changing schedule, you can even leave these headers blank so you can write them in yourself weekly. We also offer a standard layout option with pre-written headers for those who don’t want to utilize our customization feature.

ALL THE DETAILS

One of the best features of our planners is the ability to select your start month. You no longer have to wait for January or July to get organized with a new planner! Step 5 of our Planner Builder allows you to choose any month of the year as your start month and choose between a Monday and Sunday start for your monthly spread. Depending on your layout selection, you can choose between a Monday and Sunday start day for your weekly layouts. Our planners default as 12-month planners, but you can select up to an 18-month planner; we even offer a 6-month weekly planner option for our A5 and 7x9 planner sizes.

You can also add your holidays and special dates to your monthly calendar spreads. Select any country and religious holidays you want to add by clicking the checkbox next to your desired holidays. Only want certain holidays to show on your calendar? Click the ‘edit’ button to deselect dates. Create your own dates by selecting the ‘Add Your Own Special Dates’ option to type in your event titles and date. Save these events to your Plum Paper profile to be used again when you purchase your next planner by clicking the ‘Save To Profile’ button. You can add up to 3 calendar holidays or events per date.

Step 7 of our Planner Builder allows you to select your planner’s binding option. We offer three different types of binding options: Metal Coiling, Disc Punch, and Loose Pages. For more information on our binding options, please click here.

ADDITIONAL PAGES

Besides the standard planner pages, Plum Paper offers additional pages to cater to your needs. From habit trackers and budget planning sheets to fitness logs and meal planners, select pages that align with your goals and interests. Embrace the freedom to customize your planner's content to enhance productivity and stay focused on what truly matters to you.

We have three add-ons that can come with our planners: tabbed add-ons, sections, and additional pages. Our Section Add-Ons are automatically included in our Teacher and Student Planners but can be added to our other customizable planners. These Add-ons are pages placed behind a designated tab at the end of your planner or notebook. Tabbed Add-ons are pages placed behind a designated tab at the end of your planner. Our Section and Tabbed Add-Ons are designed to last 12 months, but you can add additional sections in the drop-down menu. If you add two sections, you will get two tabbed sets of the exact add-on.

Lastly, Dispersed Add Ons are single pages (double-sided) of content placed at the end of each month in your planner before the next month’s tab. Changing the quantity in the drop-down menu will give you a repeat of that page in whatever amount you select. If your planner is over 12 months long, we recommend choosing the dispersed version over the tabbed version. We don’t recommend having both tabbed and dispersed add-ons, as the content is redundant.

FINALIZE YOUR ORDER

Once you've perfectly customized your planner, it's time to review your selections. Double-check the cover design, color choices, and all the extras you've added to your planner before approving it and placing your order.
